FAQ’s

When is a good time to hire a doula?

Anytime during pregnancy! Although ideally, prior to 38 weeks into your pregnancy so we have time to meet and chat beforehand. I don’t want you to feel rushed right before meeting your baby!

Can I meet the doula before deciding about services?

Of course! A free consultation is offered to everyone. Typically this is a scheduled Zoom call, but I’m flexible if you’d prefer to get coffee and chat.

What’s the hiring process like?

First, fill out our contact form with your information and the services you’re interested in. We will then reach out within 48 hours to answer any questions and schedule a free consultation. After your consult, you’ll receive an email with the “paperwork” part of things in a customized proposal of services. Once you complete your proposal by signing and making your first payment, we will officially be your doula and/or photographer!

What types of births do doulas support?

It may vary depending on the doula, but EBA’s doula attends hospital births, home births, and birth center births. We have no opinions or judgments about your choices for your birth. Such as the location, interventions, and pain control options you accept or decline. We just want you to feel informed about the decisions you’re making!

Are services covered by insurance?

It depends on the insurance but maybe!

TRICARE: Tricare began a new program to cover birth doula and lactation services on January 1st, 2022 exclusively for TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select enrollees. This program only accepts providers from 5 doula certifying organizations. My certifications, training, and experience meet or exceed all their strict requirements to be a "TRICARE Certified Provider" for birth doula services.  I am an IN-NETWORK TRICARE provider!

Health Savings Accounts: Families with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Flex Spending Accounts (FSAs), and Health Reimbursement Accounts (HRAs) will be happy to know that most programs will reimburse for doula services. Check with your program for details. I’m happy to provide a service receipt that meets all your plans requirements for reimbursement, upon request.

Other Medical Insurance: Some insurance companies have reimbursed for doula services. Contact your company for more information. I do possess a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and can provide an official invoice and receipt for families to submit a Health Insurance Claim for reimbursement to insurance.
